Austin Astronomical Society, Inc. exists to secure the pleasures and benefits of an association of persons interested in amateur astronomy and space science, to engage in continuing education of Society members and members of the general public interested in the same.
AAS is a charitable organization recognized under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue code. AAS’ Articles of Incorporation are registered with the State of Texas, and AAS is recognized as a nonprofit corporation by the State. AAS is exempt from federal income tax. It is exempt from State sales and use taxes.

AAS’ funding comes from annual membership dues and from charitable donations to the Society.
We offer several ways to support the efforts of the Society.
From our main website, you may click About > Donate to AAS to make a secure donation of money to the Society via online payment.
Many large employers will match or subsidize contributions of time and or money to nonprofit organizations. Dell, for example, permits employees to designate donations through the Your Cause portal. Your one-time or recurring contribution can probably be set up if you provide our EIN information (above).
Periodically, our members will ask about lifetime gifts or recognition of the Society in estate planning. Again, this process is very simple. Please make sure that Austin Astronomical Society, Inc. is recognized in your will, trust or other instrument. Our officers will communicate with your trustee at the appropriate time.
Donations can be of any type or amount. We will happily accept donations of land, equipment, financial instruments and cash. If your donation is for a purpose or designation, please indicate your wishes at time of donation. Otherwise, all donations will be directed AAS’ general fund.
We will gladly accept gifts in kind of time and professional expertise. Please use the contactaas@austinastro.org email link to let us know how you can help.
For donations of astronomical equipment, please use our contactaas@austinastro.org email address to contact us so we can let you know whether the equipment or cash value from resale is of greater need.
AAS also makes occasional donations to organizations and causes we support. We are happy to pass through your donations in support of the International Dark-Sky Association or The Texas Night Sky Festival.
